Description :
Handsome antique corner cupboard in dark walnut, featuring a single multi-pane glass upper door, cream-painted interior with shaped corner shelves, one central drawer with an ornate brass pull, and two paneled lower cabinet doors. Architectural details include fluted corner columns, carved Greek-key style molding along the cornice and bracket feet. Approx. Measurements Condition Historical Note Estimated Value
46" W × 21.5" D × 79.25" H
Good antique condition with expected scratches, finish wear, surface marks, and age-related imperfections. Interior has been painted cream/white. Hardware and glass appear intact. See photos for details. Bottom doors do not have a key and were not opened because it didn't want to be forced or damaged. After some research, a skeleton key you can buy easily should do the trick. Key not included.
The comparable shown is identified as an Early Southern Virginia Valley Corner Cupboard, dating to the early 19th century, constructed of solid walnut with a twelve-pane upper door, bracket feet, and original cut nails. Your cupboard shares a remarkably similar form and construction style; however, without examining its joinery and secondary woods, I would not claim a Southern Virginia origin or an exact early-1800s date as confirmed.
